As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this super heavy quality Meiji period 1868-1912 , bronze and mixed metal vase by the highly regarded Nogawa Company, the unusual pear shaped vase is formed from a heavy gauge bronze and simply depicts a single Carp exquisitly carved and Onlaid beneath rippled waves , the Carp itself finished in a deep reddish alloy and decorated with a silver and Shakudo eye, with beautiful detailing to the scales and fins, the vase bears the Nogawa seal to the underside and is finely chiselled with the artists signature to the side , the inscription translates to read : Ōkubo Shūko saku (Made by Ōkubo Shūkō,) a fine addition to your Japanese metalwork collection.
