As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this rare Meiji period 1868-1921 silvered bronze okimono of a snowy Owl resting upon a naturalistic root wood base, the majestic bird of prey sits wings closed but poised to strike, his eyes firmly fixed on something that has caught its attention, probably its next meal, his razor sharp talons are highlighted in shakudo , with his beak and eyes picked out in gilt and shakudo, he is fixed to a super piece of Japanese hardwood by two locating pins and is artist signed in a gilt seal to the underside that translates to Yasumasa, a rare and unusual find that would make a great addition to your okimono or Japanese works of art collection .
