As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this large and finely carved Meiji period ( 1868 – 1912 ) circa 1880 boxwood Okimono style Netsuke depicting Turtles, the fine carving depicts a large adult turtle resting and four of its young clambering upon its back, the eyes of the turtles inlaid with black horn, the Himotoshi similarly inlaid to the underside of the adult , nicely artist signed to the underside in an oval cartouche which translates to read “Tadakazu” , a great addition to your Japanese Netsuke and works of art collection.
