As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this very well carved and humorous Meiji Period 1868-1912 , hardwood and mixed media Okimono, this unique carving depicts a Priest crouching before a small Conch Shell , his right hand clutching the rim of the Shell, he has an understandable grimace on his face as he is burdened by a massive Conch Shell tethered to his back with a rope , the holy man wears a finely detailed gilded band around his head and tied in a bow, his eyes are picked out in Horn and Ivory, crouched and fixed to his original carved wood base, this humorous but incredibly well detailed Okimono would make a fantastic decorative statement , and a great addition to your room setting or Japanese works of art collection
