As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are absolutely delighted to be able to bring you this quite outstanding quality and superb condition pair of Gold lacquer vases, the lobed bulbous bodies stand upon a stylish six legged silver mounted foot, each giving rise to a long slender flaring neck , the bulbous bodies are mounted with a pair of Shibayama style Ivory panels, decorated in the finest quality with pearl and shell, depicting Birds amidst Flora including wonderfully decorated Hydrangea, there is an Ikebana basket hanging from one central silver mounted panel brimming with a floral display, another panel houses a Mother of Pearl vase of Flowers amidst a backdrop of trailing blossom , each vase has been further decorated with solid silver and Cloisonné enamel mounts to the shoulders and base of the body , but for me the Gold lacquer work is the absolute stand out feature of these vases , the minute detail of the Nashi ground has been accented with a mixture of lacquering techniques including Hiramakie, Takamakie and Kirikane that take these particular vases to another level , the main bodies are awash with raised and multi coloured Gold lacquer flowers , the border to the top of the foot rim is simply stunning , the flared elongated necks are decorated with Butterflies , Gourds carrying the Manji (Budhistic Swastika symbol) and further floral swags , each vase has silver mounted top rims and bases, both for additional decoration and of more significance protection of the fragile lacquer , the vases are each signed Nobukazu/Shinichiin in a gold tablet to the underside, it would be fair to say that these vases would have been a collaboration of many individual artists skills, although the dominant artist would have signed them , each vase also carries an old collectors label , we have sold and handled quite a few of these type of vases over the years , these are amongst the finest quality and condition that we have owned to date !!
